The renovation for this 19,000 square foot roof garden over a garage includes extensive planting that provides year-round seasonal interest through use of flowering trees, evergreen trees and shrubs, deciduous shrubs with flowers and fall color, perennials for flowering interest, grasses for texture and bulbs for spring bloom. The intent was to select plants that are drought hardy, full sun tolerant and require low amounts of fertilizer and overall maintenance. A portion of the roof is a large lawn area to allow for multi functional activities and an area for a community vegetable and herb garden for the students.
For this tallest residential tower in Brooklyn, we designed the 4,950sf 5th floor terrace. The amenity space includes a large outdoor dining area with a stone clad grill and cooking area, a custom designed play structure with two slides, a rock climbing wall and extensive landscaping. The planting defines the terrace spaces with a row of flowering dogwoods, multi-stem birch trees and a multitude of herbaceous perennials and grasses for seasonal color and interest.
A new condominium on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the Laureate has the essence of a grand pre-war building. We designed three roof gardens for the residence that included lounging areas and a children playground.
For a new condominium in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn, we have designed all the outdoor amenity spaces including an entry courtyard that has the feel of an urban pocket park, and two community roof gardens. The roof garden on the first floor features a stone hearth and dining area. The rooftop garden will have a bar, grill and dining area with extensive landscaping.

This project in a resort community on the New Jersey Shore, encompasses almost two acres of landscaped plaza over top a parking garage. The space is created between three seven story condominium buildings abutting the Atlantic Ocean in Cape May County and a town house development on the other side. The gardens include lagoons, fountains, pool, spas, seating areas, outdoor dining areas and extensive landscaping. We were brought in to redesign the plaza, because the buildings were undergoing a complete renovation to the roof structure. Our team created a sustainable rooftop garden that enhances the seaside garden environment while maintaining its functionality and high aesthetic value.
A large roof courtyard space for student housing and offices across from the NYU Hospital was redesigned to create several outdoor rooms as a multi-functional space . The existing site furnishings were in need of repair and not very welcoming. The central space will act as a gathering space surrounded with large trees, built in planters and steel benches. The two side spaces are used for lounging and dining. All existing brick and wood planters have been replaced with hardy evergreen trees and flowering shrubs. The wood planters have been reclad in colored stainless steel. On top of a the heavy masonry vents, we have added seasonal filled planters.
